Debate season!

Finally. It is here. Debate season opens finally, not through Wira(which is postponed for some reason to June), but through Help Debate. Well, its better than nothing.

This years line up would be the best SS17 could offer, instead of just the B team in last years competition. We have Rishen, Leon and Matt who was the only one who debated at help last year.

Motions as expected were tough, and the competition was no different. The team didnt break, but they did give a good account for themselves, which is more than he expected of them. It was quite a pleasant surprise.

Round 1

This house would completely ban smoking everywhere in Malaysia

SMKSS17 won by a close margin.

Round 2

This house would mandate restaurants to attach calorie data on their menus

SMKSS17(gov) vs SMK Convent Kajang(opp)

Lost by a close margin. All girls teams can get touchy sometimes.

Round 3

This house believes that aid to reconstruct disaster areas should be exclusively given to local contractors

SMK(P) Sri Aman(gov) vs SMKSS17(opp)

Best performance by the team. Clear win.

Round 4

This house would allow abortion during the 1st trimester based on the choice of the woman involved

SMKSS17(gov) vs SMK Derma(opp)

Lost to SMK Derma.

Overall it was good exposure to the team. On a positive note, lots of latent potential has finally been realized through rishen and leon. Chances of retaining the zone championship has just gone up thanks to these 2 guys. SMK Seafield and SMK Subang Utama look like they're returning to the force they used to be, definitely opponents to look out for in Wira. Bring it on.
