Owing to the recent developments in his (love) life, there has been a nagging question that has got him wondering about, well, girls in general. Feel free to weigh in with your comments on the issue.
You see, the thing that has got him completely stumped is how a girl, can like a guy, without even knowing the guy. Is that really possible? From a guy's point of view, eye candy is just eye candy, and nothing more than that. It certainly takes a lot more than appearances to keep a guy hooked. He always assumed it was the same for girls, until of course, the recent developments in his short-lived love life.
Its not just a one-off event, it happened twice in the past 6 months, and in both cases, neither girl actually knew him well, in the latter case they hardly even knew each other. And when you ask them why, its always the coy " I don't know", then when you press further you'll get something vague like " you're different or you're nice" which hardly even sounds convincing since they liked you even before they could know you well enough to come to that kind of conclusion about you, and even if they did it should take a lot more than being different and nice to warrant that kind of attention from the opposite sex. But if you persist further you will finally hit jackpot and they tell you its your eyes, and they get all excited about it. And you're wondering, for all your personal traits and good qualities that you hope you have, the only reason they like you it seems is for your eyes. That's it?
He was talking to Cheryl the other day, his AFS friend, and she doesn't really think a girl can like a guy without actually knowing the guy.
" Maybe she thinks you're hot."
Was all she could surmise from this whole thing. It sounds ridiculous really, actually more like hilarious. But it seems to be the only thing that can explain it.
"When you have eliminated the impossible, whatever remains, however improbable, must be the truth."

So superficiality wins today then. Maybe that's all it was.

1. girls dont like guys they dont know just because they think he's hot or cute. it still is, and always will be, eye candy. the only thing is, when guys see a hot chick, lust sets in and they get all hard. girls, on the other hand, get all giddy headed, giggly and start fantasizing. it's the elusive fantasy they're in love with - not the dude.
2. and you can fall for someone you barely even know. you fall in love with that someone for all the things and reasons you already know. sometimes you just fall in love with the desperation to know more because you're so intrigued.
3. when "it's your eyes", sometimes it really is in your eyes. the sincerity and the pain and the love that just oozes out from the eyes. i know it sounds like total bullshit and most of the time it is total bullshit but sometimes, just sometimes, it's true.
4. i met a coupla girls who totally dig afros. grow your hair back, alby! :D
